The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Wednesday was a fantastic 122-40-148 as the TSX Venture Exchange surged 37 points to 598. Martin Kepman's Manganese X Energy Corp. (MN) lost one-half cent to 7.5 cents on 163,000 shares following word of the last of its drill results from a 12-hole prefeasibility program at its Battery Hill project in west-central New Brunswick.
The drill results ranged as high as 15.7 per cent manganese oxide over 32 near-surface metres in the Sharpe Farm West zone. Two other holes in that area also produced encouragement. One revealed a 72.6-metre near-surface zone averaging 11.29 per cent, while the other managed 13 per cent across 16 metres. A fourth hole in the area, drilled 25 metres behind the headline hole, was a dud. Manganese X also drilled four holes into the Sharp Farm East zone, although one was lost before encountering mineralization. The best hole returned 11.6 per cent manganese oxide across 32 near-surface metres, with a second managing 11.4 per cent over 20.2 metres at a greater depth.
