New York spot gold fell $4.60 to $1,908.20 on Wednesday. The TSX Venture Exchange added 6.11 points to 582.90 while the TSX gold index lost 1.22 points to 269.44. Most Canadian gold miners varied little from yesterday's close. Barrick Gold Corp. (ABX) rose five cents to $21.83 on 2.79 million shares, while Franco-Nevada Corp. (FNV) fell $1.28 to $190.75 on 586,000 shares.
Collin Kettell and Denis Laviolette's New Found Gold Corp. (NFG) rose 22 cents to $5.86 on 234,000 shares on word of more rich hits at Iceberg East on its Queensway North property in north-central Newfoundland. The headline hit was a 10.55-metre interval averaging 46.81 grams of gold per tonne, although nearly all the gold sat in a 4.4-metre stretch averaging 104.01 grams per tonne and in a 0.65-metre interval just above that which ran 20.13 grams per tonne. That leaves the other 5.5 metres with a mundane 4.2 grams per tonne.
