Most Canadian gold miners gained altitude, and China Gold International Resources Corp. (CGG) did so with some gusto, adding 51 cents to $6.29 on 58,000 shares. Also northbound with a bit of flourish was Iamgold Corp. (IMG), which added 14 cents to $3.23 on 1.89 million shares. Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TXG) on the other hand lost 23 cents to $14.11 on 628,000 shares.

John McCluskey's Alamos Gold Inc. (AGI) rose seven cents to $16.33 on 1.24 million shares following word late yesterday that it has drilled a 120.85-metre interval averaging 2.73 grams of gold per tonne at the Capulin target, four kilometres east of the open pit mine at Mulatos in Mexico. As well, the company is applauding a series of high-grade results from Puerto Del Aire, another area near the pit. Those assays include 41.46 grams per tonne over 7.05 metres and 18.32 grams per tonne across 9.5 metres.
