New York spot gold rebounded Wednesday, adding $99.30 to $3,082. The TSX Venture Exchange surged 36.9 points today to 598.66 on a day that the major exchanges were way down, then way, way up on another Trumpian tariff turnabout. The TSX gold index also did well -- very well -- adding 27.91 points to 441.36. Most Canadian gold miners gained ground today. Iamgold Corp. (IMG) was a leader as it added 93 cents to $9.19 on 8.74 million shares. It had company: Kinross Gold Corp. (K) added $1.34 to $18.37 on 10.1 million shares and even New Found Gold Corp. (NFG) managed a gain, adding 13 cents to $1.54 on 1.78 million shares.

Simon Benstead and Marc Cernovitch's Lake Victoria Gold Ltd. (LVG) rose one-half cent to 17.5 cents on 48,000 shares on word its Tembo project in northern Tanzania has had its prospecting licence upgraded as four mining licences. Lake Victoria has spent over $28-million (U.S.) exploring the property, completing over 50,000 metres of drilling, but the bureaucratic stroke of a pen is a "milestone [that] marks a significant advancement" in the company's strategy to unlock the potential at Tembo.
