The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, May 17, edition that Desjardins Securities analyst Benoit Poirier has reaffirmed his "buy" recommendation for AtkinsRealis, formerly SNC-Lavalin Group. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Poirier boosted his share target to $68 from $65. Analysts on average target the shares at $62.50. Mr. Poirier thinks negative stock reaction to the first quarter earnings release from AtkinsRealis was "unjustified" and sees the weakness as "a buying opportunity ahead of the investor day on June 13, where AtkinsRealis will be unveiling new 2025 27 targets." Mr. Poirier says in a note: "The shares were likely pressured by the limited operating leverage achieved in Q1 despite the top-line beat. Margins should improve and with the greater visibility on FCF, a call option on nuclear, the upcoming credit rating increase and subsequent 407 sale, we see several company-specific catalysts on the horizon. ... Margin in Canada will be an important data point as AtkinsRealis continues to burn through the less profitable backlog it has built up in the country over previous years. We now forecast 10.9-per-cent revenue growth for 2024 to $7.06-billion."
