The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, Oct. 7, edition that Stifel analyst Ian Gillies, in a research report released Monday titled The Goldilocks scenario persists, reaffirmed his "constructive" view on Canadian engineering and construction firms, believing "organic growth continues to be well-supported by government spending most OECD regions and AI-related spend." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Gillies, however, warns that "there are more pockets of weakness for private capex compared to last year due to trade tensions." Mr. Gillies has reaffirmed his "buy" recommendation for Atkinsrealis Group. His share target soared $21 to $131. Analysts on average target the shares at $111.92. Mr. Gillies says in a note: "A 2027 estimated net cash position of $820-million provides significantly flexibility for M&A; nuclear exposure creates a significant EPS tailwind; 25-27 estimated EPS CAGR [compound annual growth rate] of 22.6 per cent and the valuation is inexpensive in 2027 at 20.4 times P/E. ... Our best 12-month large cap idea is Atkinsrealis Group." The Globe reported on Aug. 8 that Scotia Capital rated Atkinsrealis "sector outperform," when it could be had for $96.57.
