Mr. Ian Edwards reports
JOINT VENTURE, ATKINSREALIS AND H.J. RUSSELL & COMPANY SELECTED TO ADVANCE DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT NORTH TERMINAL EXPANSION
Atkinsrealis Group Inc. has been selected along with H.J. Russell & Company as joint venture mile-high delivery partners by City and County of Denver Department of Aviation to serve as the program management contractor for Denver International Airport's North terminal expansion project. The 10-year contract that may authorize up to $135-million (U.S.) for the airport's North terminal expansion project aims to enhance infrastructure to accommodate DEN's passenger capacity, modernize international and domestic processing functions, improve airport operations, and prepare the airport for future growth.
"The North terminal expansion at DEN represents an important investment in shaping the future of aviation," said Ian L. Edwards, president and chief executive officer, of Atkinsrealis. "As one of the top-five busiest airports in the United States and top 10 in the world, our team is committed to helping DEN deliver this program safely, efficiently, and with lasting value for passengers, stakeholders, and the broader Denver and Colorado community."
The North terminal expansion project supports DEN's Vision 100 and Operation 2045, developed to serve 100 million passengers annually and 120 million per year in 2045, when the airport celebrates its 50th anniversary. The expansion is expected to create additional passenger processing capacity, enhance international flight operations capabilities, expand airline check-in facilities, increase passenger security screening capacity and provide infrastructure such as federal inspection service expansion, baggage handling system screening and capacity improvements, needed to support future airport growth.
Under the contract, MHDP will provide comprehensive program management support across planning, design, procurement, construction, stakeholder co-ordination, project controls, quality management, risk management, operational readiness and program reporting.
"We are excited to expand our aviation footprint into the Mountain West region of the U.S. and support Denver's goal to advance their operations and become world-class," said Byron Bright, president, United States, Atkinsrealis. "Our team combines world-class aviation program management experience with over a decade supporting DEN, creating a delivery model focused on collaboration, predictability and lasting value."
Drawing on experience from major aviation programs including DEN's Pena Boulevard expansion program, JFK New Terminal One, ATLNext, Dallas Fort Worth's terminal renewal and improvement program, and Toronto Pearson Airport initiatives, Atkinsrealis will help DEN deliver a future-ready airport experience while maintaining uninterrupted airport operations throughout program execution.
