The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Aug. 8, edition that BMO Capital analyst Sohrab Movahedi has reaffirmed his "market perform" recommendation for Brookfield Asset Management. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Movahedi gave his share target a $3 boost to $56 (all figures U.S.). Analysts on average target the shares at $61.81. Mr. Movahedi says in a note: "Brookfield Asset Management's fundamentals remain positive with continued double-digit fee-bearing capital growth and stable fee rates/margins. That being said, we are mindful Brookfield Asset's 36 times earnings valuation reflects a balanced risk-reward absent an acceleration to fee-bearing capital growth forecasts. Brookfield Asset stock provides investors access to a 'pure-play' alternative asset management franchise with a proven track record for double-digit fee-bearing capital growth, stable fee rates and margins coupled with the financial and operating synergies of Brookfield Corp.'s capital. However, we are mindful of multiple upside absent a further acceleration to fee-bearing capital growth." The Globe reported on July 30 that National Bank began coverage on Brookfield Asset with an "outperform" recommendation. It was then worth $62.17.
