The Financial Post reports in its Thursday edition that on the weekend, Falkbuilt chief executive officer Mogens Smed sent a message to customers and more than 500 employees at the Calgary-based construction technology company, pledging that the growing business will overcome "the inexplicable Trump tariff initiative." Postmedia's Chris Varcoe writes that on Monday, Falkbuilt was busy contacting major clients in the United States, warning about raising prices before news filtered out that U.S. President Donald Trump's threat of a 25-per-cent tariff on Canadian products was suspended for 30 days. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Mr. Smed has staff meetings planned, ready to deliver another message: The company has a plan and it will survive. Still, "He's going to want more, I can tell you that right now. We've got to be ready for that," Mr. Smed said of the U.S. President. At this point, the "damage has been done by Trump and it's not over by any means" for the North American economies and relations, Scotiabank economists Derek Holt said in a note on Tuesday. Companies considering large investments will have less confidence to pursue them because they do not know how the rules of the game may change, Mr. Holt added.
