The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday edition that ATB Capital Markets analyst Nate Heywood continues to rate Capital Power "sector perform." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Heywood trimmed his share target by a loonie to $62. Analysts on average target the shares at $65.27. Mr. Heywood says in a note: "Capital Power shares traded off 2 per cent during Wednesday's session following its premarket Q4/24 release, underperforming peers in the space. The Q4/24 EBITDA print of $330-million was a modest increase year-over-year from $313-million, but fell short of the consensus estimate of $356-million by 7 per cent (ATB estimate: $345-million). On the conference call, management maintained its optimism for power demand, growth opportunities and its positioning across North America, with data centre opportunities and M&A growth a key focus. With regard to data centre opportunities, management spoke to having queued up 1.5GW of connection potential at Genesee and currently views Alberta potential ahead of its U.S. fleet given speed to market and direct-connect behind-the-fence opportunities. With respect to M&A, Capital Power is well capitalized after the recent equity raise."
