The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, May 2, edition that Desjardins Securities analyst Brent Stadler continues to rate Capital Power at "buy." The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Stadler hiked his share target to $68 from $67. Analysts on average target the shares at $62.85. Mr. Stadler sees Capital Power "sitting pretty following a strong start to the year as reliability tailwinds accumulate." Mr. Stadler says in a note: "The results continue to highlight that Capital Power's assets are critical to grid reliability, which bodes well for recontracting. Following the strong start to the year, we now model near the upper end of Capital Power's 2025 guidance range. We have a lot of confidence in the management team, which continues to execute, we like its high-quality operating assets, which continue to outperform expectations, and we believe Capital Power has a proven strategy. ... Capital Power remains a preferred name. ... U.S. asset recontracting is a strategic priority for 2025. Capital Power commented that it is having discussions with a number of counterparties on multiple assets; we took the comments to suggest that it could announce a recontracting today but is working to ensure it maximizes value."
