The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, March 31, edition that indigenous-owned Pure Casino Entertainment LP is proposing to acquire Gamehost for $282-million and will partly finance the deal by selling Gamehost's four Alberta properties for $200-million to a U.S. real estate firm focused on casino ownership (all figures Canadian unless otherwise stated). The Globe's Andrew Willis writes that on Monday, Pure announced a $13.65-a-share bid to acquire Toronto Stock Exchange-listed Gamehost, which owns three casinos and three nearby hotels in Alberta. The deal will make it the biggest gaming company in the province. Pure also announced an agreement to sell four of the properties to VICI Properties, a real estate company based in New York with a $47-billion (U.S.) portfolio that includes landmark Las Vegas casinos. The friendly offer represented a 16-per-cent premium to Gamehost's closing price on Friday. Gamehost chief executive officer Darcy Will, the board, executives and other shareholders who collectively own 41.3 per cent of the company have agreed to support the acquisition. Gamehost shares finished up $1.75 to close at $13.50, 15 cents below Pure's bid price.
