The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday edition that the teenager involved in the mass shooting in Tumbler Ridge, B.C., allegedly spent six months planning the attack with a conspirator in Washington State, who provided advice, funding and technical support. A triple bylined item led by Andrea Woo reports that the FBI and B.C. RCMP announced at a Seattle press conference Tuesday that they are investigating a second suspect linked to the February attack. James Cody Bryant, 30, of Bellingham, was arrested by American authorities Tuesday and is alleged to have conspired with shooter Jesse Van Rootselaar, 18, to execute the killings and broadcast them over the Internet for the public to view, officials said. At least 37 lawsuits have been filed against Microsoft-backed OpenAI in California in connection with the shooting. B.C. RCMP are continuing their criminal investigation in the province and have signalled a possibility of pursuing further charges in Canada. The FBI said the accused "enabled" the shooter and agreed to livestream the attack to "maximize notoriety." The alleged conspirator, like the shooter, identifies as female. Ms. Bryant's next court appearance is Oct. 13 in U.S. District Court in Seattle.
