The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, March 25, edition that BMO Capital analyst Randy Ollenberger has elevated his recommendation for Peyto Exploration & Development to "outperform" from "market perform." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Ollenberger boosted his share target by a loonie to $19.50. Analysts on average target the shares at $18.90. Mr. Ollenberger says in a note: "The company's extensive hedging program and peer-leading cost structure has allowed the company to fund its capital program, reduce debt and maintain its healthy dividend despite the ongoing weakness in Western Canada natural gas prices. The company's acquisition of the Repsol Deep basin assets has been very successful and allowed the company to deliver a 25-per-cent improvement in overall well productivity.
Given its hedges, Peyto should reach its debt target by the end of 2025, which could support higher returns to shareholders." The Globe reported on March 12, 2024, that Mr. Ollenberger had reaffirmed his "market perform" recommendation for Peyto. The shares could then be had for $14.21. The Globe reported on March 14, 2025, that Desjardins rated Peyto "hold" when it could be had for $16.27.
