The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday, May 13, edition that RBC Capital Markets analyst Darko Mihelic is keeping his "outperform" call on Sun Life Financial intact. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities that Mr. Mihelic advanced his share target by $6 to $88. Analysts on average target the shares at $89.93. Mr. Mihelic says in a note: "Sun Life Financial's results were stronger than expected across most segments. U.S. stop-loss experience improved from last quarter and dental results reflected favourable claims experience (Medicaid repricing) year-over-year. Manulife Financial continued to see net outflows in Q1/25 but at less than half of last quarter's net outflows. Sun Life has solid capital to return to shareholders via its renewed NCIB and dividend which was higher than our estimate. As for all lifecos, there may be upcoming earnings pressures but we see the risk as modest and we believe Sun Life can manage through a slowing global economy and market volatility well." The Globe reported on Feb. 9, 2024, Aug. 15, 2024, Nov. 7, 2024, and April 16, 2025, that Mr. Mihelic continued to rate Sun Life "outperform." The shares could then be had for $71.47, $69.90, $82.08 and $78.97.
