The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Feb. 13, edition that TD Cowen analyst Mario Mendonca has reiterated his "buy" recommendation for Sun Life Financial. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Mendonca gave his share target a $2 trim to $102 (all figures Canadian unless otherwise stated). Analysts on average target the shares at $89.03. Mr. Mendonca says in a note: "Sun Life Financial beat our estimate on stronger U.S. and WM results. In the U.S., experience losses dropped to $17-million (U.S.) from $72-million (U.S.) last quarter and were better than expected as medical stop loss experience improved. Surprisingly, sales also accelerated in this segment. Pricing actions and reserving point to better U.S. results in 2026. While Manulife Financial's margins remain strong, outflows accelerated. Capital remains a Sun Life strength." The Globe reported on Nov. 7 that Mr. Mendonca had reiterated his "buy" recommendation for Sun Life Financial. The shares could then be had for $82.12. The Globe reported on Feb. 6 that Scotia Capital analyst Mike Rizvanovic continued to rate Sun Life "sector perform." The shares were then going for $88.78.
