The Globe and Mail reports in its Saturday edition that Telus is in talks related to partnerships for its data centre and artificial intelligence business. The Globe's Irene Galea writes that chief financial officer Doug French says Telus is in "active discussions on certain partnerships and on longer-term expansion as part of our data strategy." Telus said in March that it will start operating AI data centres and sell access to Canadian companies that want to build and run artificial intelligence models. On Friday, chief executive officer Darren Entwistle addressed market concerns about the potential of AI compute oversupply, saying the company's modular build approach -- in which it expands capacity as demand grows -- allows it to grow with the market opportunity responsibly, while keeping capital expenditure in mind and staying open to advancements in chip technology. Telus posted a 68-per-cent increase in net income to $431-million in its third quarter, driven by a one-time debt repurchase, despite flat revenue of $5.1-billion that met analyst expectations. Telus exceeded expectations for new Internet customers and growth in its health business, while announcing a dividend with moderate growth aimed at reducing debt.
