The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, Oct. 2, edition that National Bank Financial analyst Rabi Nizami rates Western Copper and Gold "outperform" in new coverage. The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Nizami set a share target of $3.50. Analysts on average target the shares at $3.92. Mr. Nizami sees Western Copper's Casino project "emerging as a prime acquisition target for senior producers." He calls Casino a "globally significant" large-scale deposit. Mr. Nizami says in a note: "The project hosts one of the largest undeveloped Cu-Au-Mo porphyry deposits globally but has been overlooked in recent years due to remote infrastructure and permitting in the Yukon Territory. This outlook is improving in alignment with Canada' s critical minerals strategy and as the company builds on the last decade of quiet engineering and consultation efforts that have significantly derisked the Casino project ahead of major permitting. The company has attracted investments from major industry players Rio Tinto (9.7 per cent) and Mitsubishi Materials (4.1 per cent). ... Casino stands to benefit from government-led infrastructure investments in support of mine development as a cornerstone for the Yukon's economic future."
