Andina's 2026 Cobrasco exploration seeks copper deposit

2026-01-22 19:03 ET - News Release

Mr. Joseph van den Elsen reports

ANDINA COPPER EXPLORATION UPDATE

Andina Copper Corp. has provided an update on its continuing field exploration activities at the Cobrasco copper project located in the Choco department, Colombia.

Following the commencement of field exploration in early October, 2025, the company has rapidly advanced follow-up reconnaissance mapping and sampling across the Cobrasco East prospect area, and has recommenced diamond drilling at Cobrasco Central. Results are expected shortly.

Highlights:

  • Comprehensive 2026 exploration program under way at Cobrasco to delineate a major copper deposit(s) on the property;
  • Over 2,000 metres of drilling in three holes completed to date at Cobrasco Central following up on limited previous drilling results highlighted below:
    • CDH001: 808 metres of 0.42 per cent copper and 79 parts per million molybdenum (184 to 992 m);
    • CDH002: 754 m of 0.46 per cent Cu and 76 ppm Mo (152 to 906 m);
    • CDH003: 144.6 m of 0.69 per cent Cu, 155 ppm Mo and 1.4 grams per tonne silver (156 to 300.6 m (end of hole)).
  • Wide intervals of porphyry style copper-molybdenum mineralization logged in all holes;
  • Cobrasco East prospect area targeted with stream sediment and rock chip sampling, reconnaissance mapping, and general prospecting activities;
  • Drone lidar and aero photogrammetry survey under way;
  • Preparations for airborne magnetotelluric and ground-based induced polarization geophysical surveys at the Cobrasco Central target area.

Diamond drilling and comprehensive surface exploration under way.

Hole CDH003 was originally drilled to 300.60 m by Rugby Resources and intersected 144.6 m of 0.69 per cent Cu, 155 ppm Mo and 1.4 g/t Ag from 156 to end of hole. The last 2.6 m ended in 2.69 per cent Cu, 151 ppm Mo and 7.3 g/t Ag (refer to Feb. 9, 2023, news release -- Rugby Resources).

Andina has recommenced diamond (core) drilling at Cobrasco Central, completing the first hole, the continuation of CDH003, to a final depth of 774.80 m. Assays are expected shortly.

Two additional holes were drilled to planned depth (1,046.40 m and 941.60 m, respectively) by Rugby Resources. All holes intersected significant copper and molybdenum mineralization (refer to Jan. 17, 2023, news release -- Rugby Resources).

Andina has recommenced surface exploration programs at Cobrasco with a follow-up sampling and mapping assessment of the Cobrasco East target area. Stream sediment sampling (54 samples) was conducted over second and third order streams to provide comprehensive coverage over the catchment area. Additionally, 10 rock chip samples of interest (in situ outcrops and float) collected.

The stream assay results demonstrate elevated copper values associated with slump (or colluvial/transported rocks), including mineralized breccias and veined mineralization in areas previously delineated by Rugby Resources, plus newly identified anomalous samples from contact zones between mafic intrusives (gabbros, diorites and microdiorites) and felsic tonalites of the Mande batholith. Copper values of up to 245 ppm Cu and 1.11 ppm Mo are locally anomalous, and will be followed up in subsequent campaigns to be conducted in the far eastern portions of the concession area.

In situ rock chip results of in situ samples were generally subdued, as expected within the main Mande batholith geological setting; however, float samples reported up to 0.71 per cent Cu. These highly anomalous float samples comprising brecciated and chalcopyrite-veined intrusives of tonalitic composition have not yet been identified in situ. They are interpreted to be related to younger phases of the batholith and its associated porphyry complex. Further investigations including geochronology will be carried out to better understand the relationship of the mineralization to that found in Cobrasco Central.

A high-definition drone-based orthophotogrammetry (aerial photo) and lidar survey is in progress over the 1,500-hectare northern Cobrasco block area. The survey will provide high-quality imagery for exploration and environmental purposes and detailed cross-sectional data on tree canopy and vegetation characteristics, as well as an ultrahigh-definition digital elevation model for definitive topographic plans. The lidar survey over the southern Cobrasco block will be completed as a second phase.

Geophysical surveys comprising aerial magnetotellurics (AirMT or similar MobileMT by helicopter or drone) are planned over the entire IHS-08005X exploration concession together with follow-up ground induced polarization configured to suit the ground conditions and target depths.
