Mr. John Williamson reports
ALTIPLANO RECEIVES NOTIFICATIONS ON LEGAL PROCEEDINGS IN CHILE
Altiplano Metals Inc. has provided information related to legal actions initiated against two of the company's wholly owned Chilean subsidiaries, Andes Metals SpA and Altiplano Minerals Chile SpA. The company and the company's other subsidiaries are not subject to these initiated proceedings.
Andes Metals has received a bankruptcy notice from Andes Core Mining for claims of unpaid invoices totalling 191 million Chilean pesos (approximately $284,000 (Canadian)) for disputed mining contracting work. In addition, Altiplano Minerals Chile has been presented a claim by Telecomunicaciones Robinson Alejandro Alvarez Vergara EIRL for 70 million (approximately $104,000 (Canadian)) for disputed electrical contracting services. In both situations, the initiation of the bankruptcy proceeding may be protested. Altiplano will contest these proceedings, which are expected to be presented to the Chilean courts this week.
The company confirms that it intends to work with local stakeholders and authorities to resolve the proceedings to prevent any further actions. The company will provide an update expected later this week once more information is available following the court hearings.
