DARK STAR MINERALS ANNOUNCES 2026 EXPLORATION PROGRAM AT ITS GHOST LAKE URANIUM PROJECT IN PROLIFIC LABRADOR CENTRAL MINERAL BELT

Dark Star Minerals Inc. has commenced a focused, phased exploration work program designed to advance priority uranium targets at its Ghost Lake uranium project, located in the prolific Central mineral belt in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, a region renowned for hosting significant uranium mineralization, with a planned exploration budget of approximately $300,000, subject to final program design and financing.

The property lies along structural trends associated with known uranium deposits and occurrences, including the Michelin project, Mustang Lake and Jacques Lake, providing a compelling regional geological setting for the exploration of structurally controlled uranium mineralization.

Despite limited historical exploration within the project area, multiple regional data sets provide strong indications of uranium prospectivity. Compilation and interpretation of regional airborne radiometric, magnetic and lake sediment geochemical data have identified a series of priority uranium targets across the property.

The company's exploration thesis focuses primarily on two complementary target types. The first comprises areas of elevated uranium responses identified through regional airborne radiometric surveys, which may reflect near-surface uranium enrichment and warrant systematic field follow-up. The second is a property-scale, northeast-southwest-trending structural corridor considered prospective for structurally related uranium mineralization. This corridor is further supported by anomalous uranium concentrations in regional lake sediment samples associated with a northeast-trending fault that skirts the margins of several radiometric anomalies.

Together, the radiometric, geochemical and structural signatures provide multiple exploration vectors that can be systematically tested through fieldwork. The company believes the combination of elevated uranium radiometric responses, anomalous lake sediment geochemistry and favourable structural architecture represents a compelling framework for the discovery of uranium mineralization at Ghost Lake.

This proposed exploration program with an estimated budget of approximately $300,000 is designed to advance and prioritize these targets. The program is expected to include compilation and interpretation of regional survey data and historical exploration information, followed by field verification and systematic follow-up of priority targets. Field crews are expected to utilize scintillometers and portable XRF (X-ray fluorescence) instruments, together with prospecting, soil and lake sediment geochemical sampling, to further define uranium anomalies and identify areas for subsequent exploration.

The company's targeting approach is therefore designed to move from broad regional-scale indicators, including airborne radiometric and magnetic signatures and lake sediment geochemistry, to progressively more focused field targets, with the objective of identifying uranium-bearing structures and surface expressions that can support future drill targeting. The Ghost Lake program is designed to evaluate three principal target areas:

  • The southwestern portion of the property, where elevated radiometric responses are associated with interpreted contacts and rhyolitic units;
  • A north-central area, centred on the contact between volcanic and volcanoclastic rocks;
  • A south-central area, where radiometric anomalies may represent extensions of prospective lithologies identified elsewhere on the property.

Results from the planned exploration work will be used to refine geological interpretations, prioritize targets, define drill targets and guide subsequent exploration activities.

As part of its continuing exploration efforts, the company successfully collected 19 rock samples and 52 lake sediment samples across the highly prospective Ghost Lake property. These samples have been submitted to Actlabs, a leading independent analytical laboratory, for comprehensive geochemical analysis. The results are expected shortly and will provide valuable insights into the property's mineral potential and help guide the next phase of exploration.

A radiometric survey conducted across the Anna Lake and Ghost Lake B grids delivered promising results, successfully outlining multiple anomalous regions. At Anna Lake, the survey provided well-defined data, identifying two prominent radiometric trends that may represent a single, continuous mineralized body.

These findings support the potential presence of a large uraniferous system, warranting further follow-up exploration to the northeast and southwest to determine its full extent. Similarly, the anomalies identified on the Ghost Lake B grid merit additional investigation in all directions to better understand the scope and significance of the radiometric signatures.

About the property and Central mineral belt

Located in the prolific Central mineral belt of Labrador, the Ghost Lake property consists of 28,575 hectares of contiguous claim blocks. The property is bound on three sides (north, west and east) by advanced uranium properties with active exploration and overlaps structural trends with known deposits in the immediate area. The Central mineral belt is a diverse geological environment and is host to widespread uranium mineralization. Mineralization on the neighbouring properties is not indicative of potential mineralization on the Ghost Lake property.
