The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, Nov. 4, edition that there is significant investments flowing into clean technology and energy transition. The Globe's Kelsey Rolfe writes that global investment into clean technologies reached a record high of $2.3-trillion (U.S.) in 2025. Good Investing founder Tim Nash says this green shift is less values-motivated now. Instead, "the hard economics are winning." Mackenzie Investments' John Cook says the use of ESG factors has now become "table stakes" among institutional investors for risk management. He says businesses may still have a carbon footprint and be important contributors to the energy transition. "These connections are starting to be made [between] the environmental solutions and the building blocks, molecules and metals we need to make them," says Mr. Cook. "I think that gap has closed, which is tremendous." AGF Investments recently made a similarly pragmatic update, changing the name and strategy for its AGF Global Sustainable Growth Equity ETF to AGF Energy Transition and Adaptation ETF in August. The fund holds companies involved in the energy transition and climate change adaptation, even if they have higher emissions right now, such as Cameco.
