The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Feb. 26, edition that RBC analyst Darko Mihelic continues to rate Bank of Nova Scotia "sector perform." The Globe's David Leeder writes that Mr. Mihelic boosted his share target to $106 from $97. Analysts on average target the shares at $106.83. Mr. Mihelic says Scotiabank's first quarter 2026 financial results were "stronger than expected across the board," leading to minimal earnings revisions with his core 2027 return on equity estimate reaching the bank's 14-per-cent-plus target and "implying good core EPS growth (11 per cent in 2027)." Mr. Mihelic says in a note: "[Scotiabank] provided a waterfall showing its expected core return on equity (ROE) improvement to achieve its core ROE target of 14-per-cent-plus in 2027 (was 2028) versus its Q1/26 core ROE of 13 per cent. The bank expects 55-65 basis points of core ROE improvement from Canadian banking, 10-30 bps from global banking and markets (GBM), global wealth management, and international banking on a combined basis, and 15-20 basis points from share buybacks. ... [Scotiabank] is trading at the lowest P/B [[price-to-book] multiple in the group of 1.64 times, above its long-term historical average of 1.58 times."
