The Financial Post reports in its Wednesday, Oct. 21, edition that Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce sold $1-billion of additional tier-one bonds on Monday. A Bloomberg dispatch to the Post reports that the bonds, known as limited recourse capital notes, were priced at 2.97 percentage points above government bonds, and bear a coupon of 6.631 per cent, according to people with knowledge of the matter. They mature in 60 years, and the bank will have the option to buy them back after about five years. Should CIBC choose to extend the notes beyond the first redemption window, it will have a chance to do so every five years after 2031, according to a statement.
