CIBC introduces Smart Benefits™, giving personal banking clients more choice and greater value

Canada NewsWire

CIBC Smart Account™ clients with an eligible CIBC credit card can choose benefits that reflect their priorities, with more choices available as their relationship grows

TORONTO, Oct. 27, 2026 /CNW/ -- CIBC today announced CIBC Smart Benefits™, a new program that gives eligible personal banking clients choices in how they benefit from their relationship with CIBC.

CIBC Logo

CIBC Smart Benefits™ builds on the CIBC Smart Account™ and is part of CIBC's broader strategy to create a leading everyday banking and advice platform through differentiated, digitally enabled, and personalized client experiences. The CIBC Smart Account™ features three distinct tiers based on a client's average monthly balance of eligible deposits. With new CIBC Smart Benefits™, eligible clients with a CIBC Smart Account™ and an eligible CIBC credit card can select up to three benefits across travel, everyday banking, financial, and experiential categories each year, depending on their account tier.

"Our focus is on making CIBC the first choice for Canadians' everyday banking and personalized advice. That means combining the strength, trust, and full capabilities of a leading bank with the speed, simplicity, and personalization clients increasingly expect," said Hratch Panossian, Senior Executive Vice-President and Group Head, Personal and Business Banking, Canada. "Smart Benefits™ brings that strategy to life by recognizing the value of the full client relationship. Clients can choose benefits that matter to them, and as they bring more of their banking to CIBC, they have more choices and greater value."

CIBC Smart Benefits™ give eligible clients more choice in how they benefit from their CIBC Smart Account™. The account has three tiers based on a client's average monthly balance of eligible deposits and investments with CIBC. Each tier provides everyday banking features and benefits, with different Smart Benefits choices available as clients move to a higher tier. Clients in all tiers can select from a menu of benefits that matter most to them and revisit their choices annually as their needs and goals change. This relationship-based approach is designed to reward clients for making CIBC their primary bank while giving them greater flexibility to choose the value most relevant to them.

Key program features include:

  • More choice: Clients can select benefits that reflect their priorities and lifestyle.
  • Ease and convenience: Clients can review and confirm their benefits through CIBC Online Banking® or CIBC Mobile Banking®.
  • Flexibility: Clients can revisit their benefit selections each year as their needs and goals change.
  • Greater relationship value: More benefit choices become available as clients deepen their relationship with CIBC.

Eligible clients will begin receiving digital invitations on December 7, 2026, when the annual selection window for CIBC Smart Benefits™ opens. Benefits selected during the window will take effect on January 1, 2027, and remain in place until the next annual selection period.
