The Globe and Mail reports in its Tuesday edition that revenue growth for the cybersecurity sector in the age of artificial intelligence seems likely. The Globe's Scott Barlow writes that recent incidents of AI agents bypassing safeguards and hacking into websites signal a new wave of security threats. Morgan Stanley analyst Meta Marshall recently published a report highlighting the huge TAM (total addressable market) ahead for cybersecurity companies Palo Alto Networks, Crowdstrike Holdings and Okta. International Data Corp. estimates a 15-per-cent compound annual growth rate for the sector in the next two years. Ms. Marshall believes the growth rate could climb to 23 per cent afterward as threats from AI require updates to more sophisticated security. Morgan Stanley estimates that 80 per cent to 90 per cent of cyberattacks are now attempted by AI. International Data Corp. estimates a 15-per-cent compound annual growth rate for the sector in the next two years. Ms. Marshall recommends holding a basket of her three favourite stocks, those listed above, but rates Palo Alto as her top pick. Many of the stocks have doubled this year, but she believes Palo Alto has the most attainable forward growth expectations.
