NEW D2L LUMI ASSISTANT BETA HELPS SIMPLIFY COMPLEX ADMINISTRATIVE AND INSTRUCTIONAL WORKFLOWS

D2L Inc. has made available the beta version of the D2L Lumi Assistant, a new artificial-intelligence-enhanced experience designed to help educators and course administrators navigate complex administrative and instructional workflows more efficiently. At Educause 2026, D2L is set to showcase how thoughtful AI can reduce friction and create more space for the human interactions that make learning meaningful.

Integrated directly within D2L Brightspace, D2L Lumi Assistant is a beta AI-enhanced experience that provides a conversational interface designed to simplify complex, multistep tasks. It helps educators and course administrators review learner information and identify opportunities for additional support, update and audit courses, answer common operational questions, and support bulk updates and cross-course reviews. D2L Lumi Assistant is designed to help educators work more efficiently while keeping humans in control by requiring explicit approval before an action is completed.

Dr. Ford is bringing this perspective to Educause 2026 in the session Ask the Experts: Tailoring AI Strategy to Your Institutional Mission. The interactive session will explore how higher education leaders can align AI initiatives to learning outcomes, develop rightsized governance frameworks and navigate ethical considerations to guide responsible AI adoption at their institutions. Attendees will be invited to bring their questions and leave with actionable insights to guide responsible AI adoption.

Dr. Ford is scheduled to moderate the panel Context Matters: Designing AI Strategy for Mission-Driven Institutions, which will explore how institutions can develop AI strategies that reflect their unique missions, priorities and communities.
