ENTREE RESOURCES ANNOUNCES SUDDEN PASSING OF FORMER CEO
Entree Resources Ltd.'s former president, chief executive officer and director, Stephen Scott, passed away suddenly on Sept. 8, 2026. Mr. Scott served the company in those positions for over a decade until his retirement in July, 2026.
Mr. Scott worked in the mining industry for more than 30 years, completing his education in Perth, Australia, before joining Rio Tinto Exploration (RTX) Australasia. He worked for Rio Tinto for much of his career, including as president-director of Rio Tinto Indonesia, general manager commercial for Rio Tinto Canada and senior vice-president, corporate development and strategy, for Turquoise Hill Resources. In 2014, having firmly established himself in Vancouver, Mr. Scott started a capital markets and management advisory consultancy. He joined Entree in 2015 and successfully led the company through restructuring and progressive steps to derisk the company's principal mining interest in Mongolia.
Alan Edwards, Entree's non-executive chair of the board, commented: "I had the fortunate privilege of working alongside Steve over the past 10 years. He always approached the challenges of leadership with integrity and grace, while maintaining a wry Australian sense of humour. Steve was a wonderful colleague and an even better friend, and he will be greatly missed. On behalf of the board and management at Entree, we offer our sincere condolences to Steve's family and many friends who cared so deeply about him."
