The Financial Post reports in its Tuesday edition that the head of fast-fashion retailer Groupe Dynamite sharply criticized Quebec Premier François Legault, threatening to move the company's headquarters if the provincial government does not relax its restrictive immigration policies. A Bloomberg dispatch to the Post says the company, which owns the Garage and Dynamite banners, went public late last year. It has been one of the best-performing stocks in Canada in 2025, returning about 320 per cent. Chief executive officer Andrew Lutfy says Quebec's immigration policies prevent him from recruiting and retaining talent. The Legault government has lowered immigration levels and reinforced French-language requirements to ease integration and protect French. "I cannot remain silent in the face of all this," Mr. Lutfy wrote in a letter sent to Mr. Legault and posted on Linkedin. "It's bigger than me: I speak on behalf of a business community that has had enough and wants to act, create and succeed." Last month, Mr. Legault attacked Mr. Lutfy in a television interview, saying the businessman offers jobs paying $20,000 or $30,000 annually in retail stores, and is not interested in the future of the French language in Montreal.
