Laurion Mineral resumes phase 1 drilling at Ishkoday

2026-07-22 15:52 ET - News Release

Ms. Cynthia Le Sueur-Aquin reports

LAURION REMOBILIZES FIELD TEAM AND RESUMES PHASE 1 DRILLING AT ISHKODAY FOLLOWING IMPROVED WILDFIRE AND AIR QUALITY CONDITIONS

Laurion Mineral Exploration Inc. has remobilized its full field team and resumed the phase 1 diamond drilling program at its 100-per-cent-owned Ishkoday gold and polymetallic project in the Beardmore-Geraldton greenstone belt of Northwestern Ontario, following significant rainfall and improved air quality conditions across the region.

As previously announced on July 15, 2026, the company voluntarily -- and temporarily -- suspended field operations and evacuated all personnel from site at the project in response to active wildfires and hazardous smoke conditions affecting the Beardmore area. With recent rainfall easing fire activity across Northwestern Ontario, no evacuation order or alert currently in effect for the municipality of Greenstone, and air quality at site returning to safe levels, the company's drilling contractor, Forage GeoNord, and full geological team have returned to the project and drilling has resumed.

"Our team is back on the ground at Ishkoday, and we couldn't be more energized to get back to work," said Cynthia Le Sueur-Aquin, president and chief executive officer of Laurion. "This has been a challenging week, and I want to thank our geological team, our drilling contractors and the communities of Northwestern Ontario for their resilience during this period. Safety came first throughout, and, now that conditions allow it, we're excited to get our drills turning again and keep building toward our next set of results at the A zone."

With the program back under way, Laurion remains focused on advancing its phase 1 drilling at the A zone, targeting continued definition of gold and polymetallic mineralization within the project. The company looks forward to providing updates on drilling progress and results as they become available.

The Ishkoday project covers approximately 57 square kilometres within the prolific Beardmore-Geraldton and Onaman-Tashota greenstone belts and hosts a single 6.0-kilometre-by-2.5-kilometre mineralized corridor. Historical and modern exploration programs have completed over 98,000 metres of drilling, confirming a large and evolving gold-rich polymetallic mineral system.

Laurion's strategy emphasizes disciplined, data-driven exploration, systematic technical advancement, integrated geological modelling and responsible capital allocation. The company is focused on strengthening geological confidence, expanding the scale of the mineral system and positioning the project for a future NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate. Laurion continues to evaluate opportunities that may enhance project development flexibility, including potential non-dilutive initiatives such as the evaluation of historical surface stockpile processing. The company's objective is to build technical clarity, scale and long-term project value before monetization, ensuring that future development decisions or strategic opportunities are supported by strong geological foundations and reduced execution risk.
