Mr. Glen Watson reports
MAVERICK GOLD AND SILVER APPOINTS MICHAEL LEAHY TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS AND GRANTS STOCK OPTIONS
Maverick Gold and Silver Corp. has appointed Michael Leahy to the company's board of directors, effective immediately.
Chris Farnworth has resigned as a director of the company, effective immediately. The board of directors and management of Maverick wish to thank Mr. Farnworth for his services to the company and wish him well in his future endeavours.
Glen R. Watson, president and chief executive officer of Maverick, commented: "We are very pleased to welcome Michael to Maverick's board of directors. His combination of public company experience, knowledge of the junior resource sector, and operational background in geospatial and remote-sensing technologies provides a valuable perspective as we advance the company. Michael understands both the capital markets and the technical processes involved in evaluating and developing exploration opportunities. We believe his experience and network will complement our existing team as Maverick moves into the next stage of its growth."
Mr. Leahy is a junior mining executive and corporate director with experience spanning mineral exploration, capital markets, corporate development and geospatial technology. He currently holds director positions with Emergent Metals Corp., Rex Resources Corp., Bessor Minerals and eLife Minerals Corp., which is currently a private company, and serves in an advisory capacity to Oroco Resource Corp.
In addition to his public company experience, Mr. Leahy brings more than six years of senior operating experience as chief operating officer of Auracle Geospatial Science Inc., a Vancouver-based remote sensing and geospatial technology company. Auracle provides advanced Earth observation and geospatial solutions to clients across the mining, oil and gas, infrastructure and defence sectors. His work with Auracle has provided Mr. Leahy with exposure to the application of remote sensing, geospatial data and advanced exploration technologies in the identification, evaluation and management of natural resource assets.
Through his combination of public company, operational and technology experience, Mr. Leahy has developed a broad understanding of the technical, financial and corporate considerations involved in advancing early-stage mineral exploration companies. He holds a bachelor of business administration (BBA) from Acadia University.
The appointment reflects Maverick's continuing commitment to strengthening its board and corporate governance as the company advances its portfolio of gold, silver and copper exploration assets in Nevada and British Columbia.
Mr. Leahy commented: "I am excited to join Maverick at a time when the company has assembled a compelling portfolio of exploration assets across two of North America's premier mining jurisdictions. Nevada and British Columbia offer exceptional geological potential, established mining infrastructure and a long history of major discoveries. I believe there is significant exploration upside across Maverick's portfolio, and I look forward to working with Glen and the board to systematically advance these projects, evaluate their potential and build long-term value for shareholders."
Grant of stock options
The company has granted Mr. Leahy 300,000 incentive stock options pursuant to the company's incentive stock option plan. Each option entitles Mr. Leahy to acquire one common share of the company at an exercise price of 10 cents per share for five years from the date of grant, subject to the plan and applicable regulatory requirements.
