The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, June 25, edition that retired U.S. Navy commander Phil Ehr is ready to resign from NovaRed Mining's advisory board if Kristi Noem stays with the company, which recently hired her as a strategic adviser. The Globe's Niall McGee writes that Mr. Ehr, a Democratic Congressional candidate, strongly opposes her politics, particularly her support of President Donald Trump on Canada becoming the 51st state and her justification for shooting her own dog. Mr. Ehr says he wasn't consulted about Ms. Noem being hired, and believes the company erred in thinking it could hire advisers on such extreme ends of the political spectrum. He says: "The company is being a bit naive in thinking that we can just have Republicans and Democrats, and it'll all be good. Well, it's not all good when there's this kind of divide in our country." Mr. Ehr says he's given NovaRed a week to decide. If Ms. Noem stays, he will leave. He says: "I don't think it's tenable for me to stay. Normal Republicans and normal Democrats should work together. But she is so extreme, as demonstrated by her actions." Ms. Noem has long been a divisive figure in the U.S.
