The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday, Oct. 2 edition that RBC analyst Bart Dziarski rates Onex "sector perform" in new coverage. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Dziarski set a share target of $141. Analysts on average target the shares at $143. Mr. Dziarski says in a note: "We rate Onex 'sector perform' given limited visibility on upside catalysts in the near term. Onex trades at a 30-per-cent discount to NAV [net asset value] and we apply a 25-per-cent discount, following Gerry Schwartz's shares sunsetting in May, 2026, which removes voting control and ability to elect 60 per cent of the board. Overall, we believe our 25-per-cent discount appropriately reflects the company's investment performance, fund raising challenges and NAV growth outlook." The Globe reported on Feb. 25 that TD Cowen analyst Graham Ryding had reaffirmed his "buy" recommendation for Onex. It was then worth $104.06. The Globe reported on April 25 and Aug. 8 that Scotia Capital analyst Phil Hardie rated Onex "sector outperform." In the second item, Mr. Hardie called Onex one his "top value ideas." The shares could then be had for $95.52 and $111.91.
