The Globe and Mail reports in its Friday, Oct. 2, edition that BMO Capital analyst Etienne Ricard commenced coverage on Onex with an "outperform" ranking and a $160 share target. The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that analysts on average target the shares at $153.60. Mr. Ricard says in a note: "Onex's capital allocation strategy is at a pivotal moment, with the firm focused on becoming a financial-services compounder rather than a traditional private equity holding company. This bears positive implications for easing capital intensity, asset management synergies and reduced valuation complexity. Further, the acquisition of Convex offers a new value-creation pillar that should be supportive of low double-digit investing capital per share growth (vs. +8 per cent over the past decade).
... Layering in a margin of safety valuation-wise, the risk-reward appears upside-skewed." " The Globe reported on Oct. 2, Feb. 24, April 21 and May 20 that RBC Capital analyst Bart Dziarski rated Onex "sector perform." It was then worth $121.56, $103.04, $115.27 and $106.73.
