The National Post reports in its Thursday edition that the penny has finally begun to drop. The Post's Terry Glavin writes that the protocols of diplomatic etiquette, and European weakness, corruption and reliance on Russian fossil fuels, are being faced squarely. Bipartisan opinion in the U.S. Congress is coalescing in unity. Even the few genuinely patriotic Americans loyal to President Donald Trump cannot now help but admit it openly: In the matter of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Mr. Trump is on the side of the enemy. Last week, Mr. Trump went off his rocker, proposing to defy his own country's sanctions laws and extend a lifeline to Russia in the form of sanctions exemptions allowing the sale of hundreds of millions of barrels of diesel oil -- which will not help fuel prices in the U.S. Chaos in the Strait of Hormuz is what's fuelling higher prices, not Ukraine's refinery attacks. Former National Security Council chief of staff Keith Kellogg was livid with Mr. Trump's shocking demands last week that Ukraine refrain from targeting Russia's oil refineries. "I'd burn down every one of the goddam refineries that Russia has today. Take them all out." Mr. Kellogg said oil refineries are legitimate Russian targets.
