QUARTERHILL INTRODUCES TOPAS-REGISTERED INTERSECTION SOLUTION IN UNITED KINGDOM

Quarterhill Inc.'s proprietary, multilane intersection radar, TMB-13X, has achieved TOPAS 2505B registration, a requirement for any traffic signal detection technology deployed in the United Kingdom. This accomplishment enables Quarterhill to provide U.K. transport authorities with a reliable, easy-to-use and cost-efficient product, enabling safer and more efficient roads with industry-leading deployment times.

Designed for complex, multilane intersections, the TMB-13X provides traffic authorities with an above-ground alternative to traditional inductive-loop detection, helping reduce the road work, installation costs and traffic disruption associated with in-road sensors. The product can monitor vehicles and cyclists across multiple lanes and uses up to nine configurable virtual detection loops based on speed, direction of travel, movement and presence. It also features a compact four-metre blind zone and an intuitive browser-based configuration interface accessible through Wi-Fi to enable faster deployment and simpler continuing maintenance.

The United Kingdom is one of the most significant markets for traffic signal detection technologies in Europe. Transport for London alone operates approximately 6,400 traffic signal sites, including approximately 4,000 signalized junctions and 1,500 pedestrian crossings, supported by more than 16,000 traffic detectors. This registration builds on Quarterhill's existing presence in the U.K. market, extending the company's ITS (intelligent transportation systems) technologies into intersection detection alongside its established U.K. operations. With TOPAS approval now secured, Quarterhill can now offer the TMB-13X product to U.K. traffic signal controller manufacturers, system integrators and transport authorities across the country.

This milestone adds to continued momentum across Quarterhill's ITS business. In August, 2026, the company reported its strongest quarter of profitability in more than three years. Quarterhill is also progressing toward the expected fourth-quarter 2026 closing of its previously announced acquisition of Conduent's tolling solutions business, which is expected to significantly expand the company's scale and further advance its strategy to build a larger, more focused ITS platform.
