The Globe and Mail reports in its Thursday edition that officials organizing Prime Minister Mark Carney's Canada Investment Summit have identified more than 160 projects in various stages of development that are open for investment, including a proposed $10.9-billion high-speed rail link between Edmonton and Calgary and a planned $57-billion Port of Churchill expansion project. A triple-bylined item led by James Bradshaw says the 66-page "prospectus" booklet was shared Wednesday with summit attendees ahead of the Sept. 14-15 event in Toronto. The summit is expected to draw around 300 chief executive officer and senior executives from many of the world's largest global investment organizations. As Ottawa looks to expand its trade ties to soften the blow from an expanding tariff war with the United States, the event will pitch Canada as an attractive, stable place to invest in an attempt to bring in at least $500-billion in new private-sector capital over five years. Nuclear power also makes the list, in the form of New Brunswick's exploration of new generation at its Point Lepreau site. Other projects described in the prospectus include the $5.2-billion (U.S.) Telesat Lightspeed low-Earth-orbit satellite network.
