(TSX: VGC) (OTCQB: VLGDF) ("Valor" or the "Company") announces with profound sadness the sudden illness and passing of Mark Ashley, the Company's Chief Executive Officer and a member of its Board of Directors. He was a deeply respected and admired executive and a mentor to the entire Valor team. He will be greatly missed.

Alan Edwards, Chairman of the Board of Directors, will assume the duties of Chief Executive Officer on an interim basis. Alan brings significant mining industry experience, a strong understanding of Valor and Courageous Lake, and continuity of leadership as the Company moves forward.

The Board does not immediately intend to search for a permanent CEO or fill the vacancy on the Board created by Mark's passing.
