The Globe and Mail reports in its Wednesday, April 23, edition that CIBC World Markets analyst Hamir Patel has raised his ranking for Winpak to "outperformer" from "neutral." The Globe's David Leeder writes in the Eye On Equities column that Mr. Patel hiked his share target to $50 from $49. Analysts on average target the shares at $51.33. Mr. Patel says in a note: "Tariff risks (every 1-per-cent tariff would have been a 1-per-cent hit to EBITDA) appear to have largely faded and we have high confidence the company can deliver mid-single-digit organic growth even in a recessionary environment given ongoing capital projects. At the same time, valuation remains compelling, with Winpak trading at only 5.9 times 2025E EV/EBITDA, a steep discount to its five-year average forward multiple of 7.9 times." The Globe reported on April 25 and Oct. 29 that Mr. Patel continued to rate Winpak "neutral." The shares could then be had for $44.68 and $49.29. The Globe reported on Feb. 28 that National Bank Financial analyst Ahmed Abdullah had reiterated his "outperform" ranking for Winpak, which was then going for $43.13.
