BMO Asset-Backed Securities begins trading on TSX

2026-08-27 16:37 ET - News Release

Mr. Aaron Sobeski reports

BMO LAUNCHES NEW ETF

BMO Asset Management Inc., the manager of the BMO ETFs, has launched BMO Asset-Backed Securities ETF, offering Canadian-dollar units (Toronto Stock Exchange: ZABS), hedged units (TSX: ZABS.F) and U.S.-dollar units (TSX: ZABS.U).

BMO Asset-Backed Securities has closed its initial offering of units and is listed and trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Investment objectives

The BMO exchange-traded fund's objective is to provide income while at the same time preserving capital by investing, directly or indirectly, primarily in a diversified portfolio of asset-backed securities. ABS are debt securities that entitle their holders to payments that depend primarily on the assets underlying the securities. The BMO ETF may invest in ABS of any kind, including but not limited to consumer and commercial ABS, collateralized loan obligations, and commercial and residential mortgage-backed securities. In respect of the hedged units, the BMO ETF will also invest in or use derivative instruments to seek to hedge foreign currency exposure.

Additional information

Commissions, management fees and expenses all may be associated with investments in exchange-traded funds. Please read the ETF facts or prospectus of the BMO ETF before investing. Exchange-traded funds are not guaranteed, their values change frequently and past performance may not be repeated.

For a summary of the risks of an investment in the BMO ETF, please see the specific risks set out in the prospectus, including for a description of risks related to ABS. Exchange-traded funds trade like stocks, fluctuate in market value and may trade at a discount to their net asset value, which may increase the risk of loss. Distributions are not guaranteed and are subject to change and/or elimination.

BMO ETFs are managed by BMO Asset Management Inc., an investment fund manager, a portfolio manager and a separate legal entity from Bank of Montreal.

BMO Global Asset Management is a brand name under which BMO Asset Management Inc. and BMO Investments Inc. operate.
