The B.C. Securities Commission has fined and imposed a three-year ban on Port Moody's Brandon Boddy after he failed to produce records that the regulator demanded as part of an investigation into Braxia Scientific Corp., a now-defunct Canadian Securities Exchange listing. The BCSC sought the records when it was looking into a promotion of Braxia and the accuracy of the company's disclosure. Mr. Boddy at first delayed and then simply failed to produce the records, the BCSC said.

The penalties for Mr. Boddy are contained in a decision that the regulator released on Tuesday, Aug. 4. The three-year ban applies to trading, serving as an officer or director, and acting as a promoter, among other things. The BCSC also ordered Mr. Boddy to pay $40,000.

Tuesday's sanctions arise from Mr. Boddy's work as a consultant and shareholder of Braxia (formerly known as Champignon Brands Inc.), as well as his ownership of entities that Braxia acquired. The BCSC was looking into his roles with the company and on July 28, 2023, requested records related to the transactions. The BCSC also issued a summons requiring Mr. Boddy to attend an interview.
