Former Odlum Brown Ltd. vice-president Jeffrey Davis has filed another lawsuit against the firm in the Supreme Court of British Columbia, claiming that he was falsely accused of withdrawing $6-million. Mr. Davis, who is already suing for wrongful dismissal, says that Odlum Brown used the $6-million as a pretext to fire him. The firm then "seized his professional book of business," the suit claims.

The allegations are contained in a notice of claim that Mr. Davis filed at the Vancouver courthouse on Wednesday, Oct. 14. The case comes over two years after Odlum Brown fired Mr. Davis, with the firm dismissing him on Jan. 23, 2024. According to Mr. Davis, the dismissal led to the "complete destruction of his 23-year career" and the loss of business assets that generated $5.5-million in annual revenue.

The events at issue go back to May 9, 2023, when Odlum Brown's lawyer "falsely alleged that [Mr. Davis] withdrew $6,000,000 from joint accounts and failed to provide financial disclosure," the suit states. Mr. Davis further complains that Odlum Brown purported to have made statements to the police about the "false narrative" that it had created. "Despite representations that audiovisual recordings of these statements existed, the actual underlying media files were never produced," Mr. Davis contends.
