The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Tuesday was a positive 118-81-111 as the TSX Venture Exchange fell three points to 567. Ewan Mason and Ken MacNeill's Star Diamond Corp. closed unchanged at 7.5 cents on 401,000 shares. The company's stock ended 2022 with a record low of just seven cents, but 2023 could be an eventful year as Star shuffles its management and looks to revive its mothballed FalCon diamond project in central Saskatchewan -- with or without help of its majority co-venturer, Rio Tinto Exploration Canada Inc (RTEC).
Mr. MacNeill, the company's president and chief executive officer for what seems forever, loped off into the sunset on New Year's Eve. That is no surprise, since he revealed his intention to retire -- or his company's intention to retire him -- back in mid-November. What is new, although it is hardly news to long-time Star gazers, is that his interim replacement will be Mr. Mason, the company's chairman.
