The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score on Thursday was a weak 67-99-144 as the TSX Venture Exchange added three points to 553. Grenville Thomas and Ken Armstrong's North Arrow Minerals Inc. (NAR) closed unchanged at three cents on 2,000 shares. The company has bid adieu to another greybeard, as Dr. Christopher Jennings has retired as a company director. He joined the company's board in 2012 when North Arrow acquired an interest in the sprawling Lac de Gras (LDG) diamond project from Dr. Jennings's Springbok Holdings Inc.
That was a dozen years ago, but Dr. Jennings had been an associate and adviser with Mr. Thomas on diamond matters long before that: When Chuck Fipke and Dr. Stewart Blusson kicked off the diamond frenzy in Canada's north with the discovery of diamonds in the Point Lake kimberlite late in 1990, Mr. Thomas hired Dr. Jennings to stake as much ground as he could for Aber Resources Ltd. -- claims that included what became the Diavik mine.
