The diamond and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was a positive 78-60-172 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose fractionally to 721. Mark Selby's Canada Nickel Co. Inc. (CNC) slid six cents to 88 cents on 4.62 million shares today. This follows a three-cent loss to 94 cents on 1.32 million shares on Wednesday after the company rolled out a maiden resource estimate for its Mann West nickel sulphide project, near Timmins in Northern Ontario.

Canada Nickel lists 406 million tonnes indicated at 0.23 per cent nickel, 0.012 per cent cobalt, 0.32 per cent chromium, 6.5 per cent iron and a modest amount of platinum group elements (PGE). Another 600 million tonnes are inferred at comparable grades. The company also touted a sliver of the deposit as a "PGE zone," as its seven million tonnes indicated and 7.7 million tonnes inferred graded about 0.235 gram of palladium and 0.18 gram of platinum per tonne -- much higher, but still not much to write home about.
