The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score for Thursday was a terrible 46-129-135 as the TSX Venture Exchange lost 37 points to 910. Jean Raymond Boulle's Star Diamond Corp. (DIAM), unchanged at three cents on 456,000 shares, had its first news in four months after Wednesday's close, touting its "immediate appointment" of Brendan Moore to its board. Mr. Moore was "honoured to join the board" and he is "[looking] forward to contributing to the organization's mission and long-term success."

That was just the tip of the iceberg of jargon: Below the waterline, Star Diamond bafflegabbed that Mr. Moore, a seasoned global executive with over 30 years of international leadership experience, "brings deep expertise in global capital allocation, enterprise risk management, regulatory strategy and long-term value creation, complemented by a strong entrepreneurial track record."

Indeed, Wayne Malouf, Star Diamond's chairman, welcomed Mr. Moore with another dollop of promotional spice, proclaiming that he "offers a seasoned board-level perspective grounded in governance excellence, performance optimization, and sustainable value creation," and then concluding that his experience and insight will be a tremendous asset to the company, and so he and his crew "very much look forward to working with him."
