The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score on Friday was a mediocre 72-86-152 as the TSX Venture Exchange rose fractionally to 854. Frank Smeenk and Bruce Hodgman's Canadian Chrome Co. Inc. (CACR) continues to trade on the lowest possible perch, unchanged at one-half cent on 216,000 shares today.

The company has been mum for nearly a month, having last updated shareholders in mid-June about a "review and assessment of its strategic options and alternatives" regarding a possible asset sale or merger deal. Canadian Chrome has significant chromium projects in the Ring of Fire district of Northern Ontario, but its current accounts are over $7-million in the red.

Darren Bahrey's thin trading Strategx Elements Corp. (STGX) last traded at 13.5 cents a week ago. The company has sold 2.25 million shares at 15 cents apiece, raising nearly $334,000 from a placement it launched in mid-June, seeking $900,000. Strategx needs more cash, so it is touting the sale as a first tranche, looking to close one or more of them in the coming days.
