The critical and specialty minerals box score for Tuesday was a pleasant 122-60-128 as the TSX Venture Exchange added 23 points to 873. Robin Dunbar's Grid Metals Corp. (GRDM) jumped two cents to 11.5 cents on 1.11 million shares on word that it has formed a joint venture with a subsidiary of Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (AEM: $199.86), Avenir Minerals Ltd., covering the Falcon West cesium project in southeastern Manitoba.
Avenir gets a 15-per-cent interest in Falcon West for $3.75-million and can boost its share to 30 per cent by financing a preliminary economic assessment. (There is a formula to assess Avenir's cost for the second option, but it comes with enough percentages to choke a goat -- 40 per cent of the net present value of the property on a 100-per-cent basis using a discount rate of 8 per cent per annum, multiplied by 15 per cent.) Avenir will also boost its shareholding in Grid to 19.99 per cent once a resource estimate is published.
