The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score on Monday was a mediocre 122-69-119 as the TSX Venture Exchange jumped 32 points to 898. Laura Lee Duffett's Tres-Or Resources Ltd. (TRS: $0.055) is going through the change. While the company doggedly insists it will stick with diamonds, it is giving itself an aurific back door -- one that is likely to see use right off the hop. Tres-Or is acquiring the Stonecutter diamond and gold property, northeast of Wawa in Northern Ontario, through the reverse takeover of a private Ontario numbered company controlled by Third Eye Capital Corp. Third Eye, you may recall, was a lender to John Ryder's Dianor Resources Inc., which went bankrupt in the mid-2010s.
Did a lightbulb of distant recollection just flicker? If not, recall that Dianor had been pushing hard at its Leadbetter diamond project, northeast of Wawa, to the point that its balance sheet toppled over during the Great Recession and it was unable to recover. And so, Third Eye ended up with the Leadbetter project, which it set up as an asset of the numbered company in 2016. Yes, it is now called Stonecutter -- soon to be Tres-Or's Stonecutter.
