The critical and specialty minerals stocks box score on Friday was a positive 107-70-133 as the TSX Venture Exchange added four points to 970. Lithium Chile Inc. (LITH), silent since June, was a busy trader today -- but not in a good way. It slid nine cents to 50 cents on 1.37 million shares before a morning halt, pending news.

Eric Desaulniers's Nouveau Monde Graphite Inc. (NOU) fell three cents to $2.02 on 256,000 shares. The company is continuing construction of its Matawinie graphite mine in Quebec, having made an investment decision in the second quarter. As well, the company blathers that it has "actively continued to advance key activities supporting a targeted financial investment decision" for its 13,000-tonne-per-year battery material plant, at Becancour.

"The second quarter of 2026 was a key chapter in [Nouveau Monde's] journey," rhapsodized Mr. Desaulniers, the company's founder, president and chief executive officer. With the successful completion of a major financing and the launch of construction at the Matawinie mine, "we transitioned from years of planning and development into execution, all while remaining focused on advancing the next major development stage for our 13,000-tonne-per-year Becancour battery material plant," Mr. Desaulniers beamed.
